📷 Photography guide
During the fresh-green and foliage seasons, overcast mornings offer the softest light — watch for dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy onto moss-draped rocks and the stream's surface. Use a wide-angle lens (16–24 mm) to capture the flowing stream and old-growth trees on both banks in a single frame for a strong sense of depth. A slow shutter speed (around 1/4 sec) will render the cascades — including Shiraito Falls — in a silky, painterly blur. In autumn, use a circular polarizer to reduce surface glare and bring out the vivid reds and yellows reflected in the water. For a classic composition, place one of the rocky outcrops along the trail in the foreground and use a diagonal rule-of-thirds framing that follows the flow of the stream.
